Fall OSU engagement shoot

Last year in the fall, I had the honor of photographing Jack and Elena’s engagement session at both Harrison West and the OSU campus. We scheduled the session so the sun would be setting as we shot on campus, and it was nothing short of spectacular. I just adore the golden glow we were able to get and the super dreamy-delux silhouettes by mirror lake. This year, I was able to capture these two tie the know in one of my favorite weddings from 2020! I am so excited to share this with the world tonight! Keep an eye out for their wedding blog in the coming months! XO Jess

Fall wedding at High Line Car House

Tonight I get to feature Jenn and DWs gorgeous wedding from last year at High Line Car House! I have been so excited to show this one off because from start to finish, this day was just magical. This is also the first time in 12 years that I’ve had a pet stand at the front with the couple as they got married. Cooper was very respectful and didn’t steal the show too much!!

DW and Jenn did a first look at Schiller Park in German Village. It was so much fun to see DW’s reaction as they both turned around. He was overcome with emotion and photographers just live for those moments! From there we casually walked around the park, talking and laughing with the whole bridal party. Jenn’s cathedral length veil was just everything. Long veils make the whole bridal look so elegant and romantic. One of my favorite photos we got was the picture of their basset hound Cooper standing in front of the bridal party. He even had his own little tuxedo!

We all headed back to High Line to watch these two tie the knot! It was so intimate, loving, and warm in that room. From there we all moved to the main space of High Line and got the party started. Tables were accented with flowers from Jewelwedding Floral Studio, candles, and the most beautiful glass pumpkins. Kitties Cakes supplied the most incredible desserts as well! After their first dance, we snuck out to do a few night photos in front of the Columbus Love sign downtown. To finish off the night, guests were treated to The Whirlybirds live band. This day had the best energy from start to finish. So much love to you both DW and Jenn. You’ll never know how lucky I feel that you walked into my life! XO J

Wedding in Downtown Columbus

Even though this wedding wasn’t from November, I still wanted to share it this week because it had the perfect fall and Thanksgiving palate. Last year, I had the honor of photographing Kendra and Andrew’s wedding in downtown Columbus. These two are so in love and it just showed through in every photo. We did the first look outside of their hotel, the Hyatt downtown. The Hyatt has really vamped up their rooms in the last couple of years and it’s become an awesome place to get ready for a wedding. Beautiful Ivy scaled the outside of the Hyatt, making it the perfect backdrop for seeing each other for the first time on their wedding day. As Andrew turned around, they both started to laugh, totally overcome with joy that they had finally made it to their wedding day! Then they embraced and just melted into the other’s arms. It was a quiet and magical moment where the whole world seemed to pause just for an instant.

From the first look, we stopped in German Village for their portraits. A bright red wall we found complimented the bright orange and maroon florals just perfectly. It was then time to get married! We went to the Boathouse at Confluence Park and went outside to their back patio for the ceremony. There is a sweeping view of the Columbus skyline that is simply spectacular. Tears filled both Kendra and Andrew’s eyes as they said their vows and pledged their lives to one another.

It was then time to party! Guests were treated to champagne and city views all night long and the dancing was spectacular! Earlier this year Kendra and Andrew welcomed a little baby to their family. It’s been such a cool two years for these two even though 2020 certainly has come with challenges. Thank you Kendra and Andrew for trusting me with these beautiful memories!

Blackwell Hotel Wedding Photos

Eric and Morgan tied the knot in September of last year at the Blackwell on OSU’s campus. It was such a special day because they had been together for over 10 years and decided to make it official! Eric also happens to be one of the first friends I made when I moved back to Ohio in 2005. Now that I write that, I can’t believe how fast 15 years flew by. In a lot of ways, it felt like I was reconnecting with family. Everyone in this wedding party was so much fun. It was just laughter from the beginning until the end. I think one of my favorite parts of the entire day was during the ceremony, light just beamed in on the two of them. I’m not going to lie, it wasn’t ideal for photography, but it was a moment that made me think, wow! The sun is giving its approval, too. So after their sun-kissed vows and ceremony, they greeted their guests with deep celebratory hugs, because you could do that in 2019.

The Blackwell has a lot of hidden photo gems right around it, including these tree-lined walkways across the street. The lighting we got in that area was insane. I think my favorite photo from the entire day was when Eric and Morgan were walking across the street back to their venue. It reminded me of the Abbey Road album cover, but it was also just such a sweet and real moment.

At their reception, guests were treated to flutes of champagne with flowers in it. It was such stunning detail and pop of color. As the night went on, the party just ramped up! By the time I left, there were some expert dance moves being distributed across the dance floor. It was such a special night and I’m so honored I was asked to capture it. Thank you, Eric and Morgan, and happy one year married!

Delaware OH Family Photos

There have been so many great moments to 2020 and seeing this family was one of my favorite parts! I love Christie and Ingmar. I did their wedding a few years back and since then have had the privilege of documenting their extended family every couple of years. Getting the email that they are coming into town is the best email of the year! This was the first time I had met their baby girl and I couldn’t stop staring. She is so beautiful and sweet. Her older brother is so proud of her! My favorite photos were when he played duck-duck-goose around her. He has so much energy so asking him to run was 100% ok with him!  Thank you to this beautiful family for becoming such a wonderful part of my life! XO J

Park of Roses Maternity Session

Today I am so excited to share Kendra and Andrew’s maternity shoot. I was lucky enough to photograph these two get married last year. This year, they had a baby! And right before that big moment, we met at the Park of Roses for this intimate session with just the three of them. I remember those weeks right before having a baby so vividly. You have everything ready, so many little clothes, and yet you still can’t really imagine what it will be like. What will they look like? How will their little eyes see this big crazy world. Those last few days are electric and exciting and I’m so greatful to have phtographed that time for the Dillon family!

Family Photos at the Audubon Center

This shoot was from earlier this year in the middle of summer, and the light of the early evening touched everything with its golden glow. I just love shooting at the Grange Insurance Audubon Center in downtown Columbus. It has a little bit of everything. I am a person who LOVES vibrant colors, so I was so excited to see that the Elsey’s did too with their bright and fun outfits. A match made in heaven! We walked around, laughed and I had the honor of photographing how loved these kids are! I am so excited to share this beautiful famly’s shoot with you today! I hope you love it as much as I did taking it! XO Jess

Downtown Dublin Family Photos

I shot this adorable family’s wedding last year. Instead of an engagement shoot, they opted for a family shoot after their wedding. Their daughter Mary stole all the thunder! This late fall shoot from last year was cold, but they all made sure to keep warm with plenty of snuggles.

We met up outside the new Dublin library. It has the best modern lines and beautiful landscaping as well. It actually started to rain, but luckily inside is cool too and little Mary was able to play in the children’s area for a while with mom and dad. I love the photo where she’s in the crawl circle looking out at the world around her. Thank you so much to the Harrison’s for being so wonderful in so many ways! XO Jess

Columbus Newborn Photography

More adorable cuteness on the blog tonight! I was so excited to meet up with Jon and Kasia again (I did their wedding and engagement shoots a while back). Welcome to the world Amelia! This shoot is part of a large collection of family shoots from last year that never saw the light of day. So, technically, Amelia is now a year old. Still, I just can’t get enough of those adorable newborn cheeks. And look at her beautiful lips? She’s just a stunning little Gerber-worthy babe. I also love the way her parents styled her nursery with flowers and soft pinks and creams. And definetly not to be forgotten, their doggie was dressed to the nines for his photos, too!

Grange Insurance Audubon Family Photos

Here we are on the cusp of fall when the air is feeling a little bit crisper, and I’ve already ordered my annual new sweater which will come in the mail any day now! (I’m so excited).I thought I would tease the season with this session I did right around this time last year.

I met up with the Bruns family at the Grange Insurance Audubon Center when there wasn’t too much color change on the trees yet.  That didn’t matter, though, because the warm sun made everything glow. You truly don’t need colored trees for a warm fall look.

Look at this little man! How adorable is his smile? I just love the photo of him and mama laying on the grass together having fun. I also love the one where she’s holding him and she is just in pure mama heaven laughing and loving on her little sweetheart.

I still have a few openings for fall photos! Be sure to secure your date today! XO J
