Columbus Elopement Photography

One of my favorite things to shoot is Columbus elopement photography. I love it because it feels so spontaneous with no real schedule to keep. Believe it or not, this wedding session was only 30 minutes! My time with them was short but mighty. This session was filled with smiles, puppy kisses, and the most fabulous spring blooms.

Gabriella and Brice met up with me after their intimate low-key elopement downtown by the river. We utilized the ivy-covered brick walls of the Cultural Arts Center and the Main Street bridge. It was a great way to get a lot of variety for photos in a limited time frame. The sun was starting to dip in the sky and the bride lights were just becoming visible. That’s an ideal time of day to be shooting because everything seems so much more atmospheric and romantic.

Although they chose to keep their actual ceremony private and off-camera, this was such a perfect way to celebrate! I can’t thank Gabriella and Brice enough for having me join them on this incredible day.

Clintonville Family Photo Session

Welcome to Familypalooza! I’ve done this blog series under the name Babypalooza the last couple of years and it’s only been a week-long blog event. This year, Familypalooza is ALL MONTH! One blog a day for 30 days. I hope I can do it! That’s so much blogging.

For day one, I am so excited to share a session I did last year with the Byrne family! They wanted to get a photoshoot with their beloved dog Rory who sadly passed soon after we took these photos. Since then, they have welcomed a new baby boy into their family and I had the honor of photographing him last month. His close-ups will also be a part of this month’s family celebration. Check back in late September to see some of the photos of this precious babe and his excited older sister on the blog.

Last year, we did this front porch session before the front porch sessions were even a thing! I love that they chose to do their photos at their home. For my family, we love having our family photos taken at our home, too. No park or cool city backdrop will ever match the sentimentality of your home! But honestly, not many people have such an awesome front porch as the Byrnes do. I would spend most of my days on it if I lived there. I have been so thankful to have this family in my life. Our daughters are pretty close in age so it’s also been fun watching them grow up (so quickly). So much love to you guys!

Columbus OH Snowy Sessions

Happy Snow day everyone! I have a new-found appreciation for the snowiest of days since my son is absolutely crazy about them! He literally started speaking in tongues this morning when he looked outside and saw the fluffy white stuff covering our entire backyard. It reminded of me of some of my other snow-loving clients who had their snowy portraits taken with me earlier this year. So many snowy snuggles and huge bursts of laughter. There were even some puppy kisses too!! I hope all of you are able to get outside today and build a snowman like we did. Or, just enjoy these winter nuzzles from the warmth of your home. XO Jess

Goodbye 2012 – Columbus Wedding Photography

So I realize it’s almost February of 2013, but I’d be remiss if I didn’t give a blog post shout-out to my amazing 2012 clients and wedding couples. I have to let you all know how very thankful I am to have the privilege of getting to know you, to practice my art on an almost daily basis, and to share my photography with the world (ok, at least the world wide web). I have met and traveled to some really cool places. When I was just looking back on all of the photo sessions in 2012, it feels like it’s been a couple of years all rolled into one. Which I absolutely love. When life feels like that, I know I’m getting the most out of the time I have on this spinning globe. Some 2012 highlights for me would be: Seeing my returning client’s families evolve, grow up and change. The perfect blue sky that meets the perfect gust of wind that meets the hair of my subject that is captured by the click of my camera. That happened a lot in 2012. Shooting the wedding of a bride that booked me two years in advance. I remember when it felt like it was forever until I was going to shoot it. Now it exists in photographs. Having my best June booking numbers to date. Traveling to Natchitoches, Louisiana for a beautiful southern wedding. My neon green Ford Fiesta hatchback I rented in Natchitoches (as if I didn’t have out-of-towner written all over me anyways). Discovering some gem wedding locations here in Ohio, like the Botzum farm and the Georgian Manor, that are so perfect it’s beyond words. Entering a few Wedding Photography contests. Introducing a new product line of books and printed materials. Soaking up all the creative touches each of my subjects put into their events. I’ve been so blessed to have brides who have a passion for creative touches.

2013 is here now, and I’m so excited to see what this year has in store for the company. Please enjoy some of my favorite pictures from this past year! XO Jess
